I am so glad that I found this shop by accident 2.5 years ago. When I walked in and immediately Madeline spotted my curved back and shoulders and explained the reason for that. She measured me and the verdict was that I was wearing wrong size and a wrong cup for many years. She found the right size and all the bras that Madeline suggested were absolutely perfect supporting my back and the posture and the clothes looks much better with the right size bras. Madeline knows everything about the garments she sells, she also knows great deal about bra fitting and will not sell you wrong size even if you insist. I recommend this service to all women to look and feel better. 2 weeks ago I went to see her again and ended up with new sets without hesitation.

I visited the shop recently with my colleague who had been there before and insisted that I go with her as she was so impressed. The elderly lady that previously ran it is now unwell and her former assistant has taken over. My friend commented how much more organised it looks now but the service is still fantastic, I thought I was a 34dd but ended up with 2 lovely 30 GG bras and felt transformed. Don't go there if you have limited time but do go if you want a fantastic shopping experience that will change your whole posture and make you feel very special.

I have been visiting this shop for over 10 years and as my shape has changed with my advancing years Design Also has continued to transform me! whenever I’m in London I pop in and always leave with something lovely I am always given a warm welcome and their usual really considerate fitting service, it’s never as simple as just being one size I usually come up in half a dozen different sizes and they take time to make sure every bra fits beautifully - don’t be put off if it seems chaotic, they really know about bras … it is a real gem of a shop you always leave there looking good and feeling good

Having found this site before leaving New Zealand I was looking forward to the excellent service and was intriged with the previous description of the shop. The shop is at the Highbury shops end of St Pauls Road and opens at 2ish !! Like other ladies I was fitted and sold a 34" bra having always been fitted into 38" from many parts of the world but can say this is the most comfortable bra I have ever had.
Yes the shop is a 'one off' which makes it all the more interesting................well worth the long walk from the wrong bus stop!

I went in wearing an uncomfortable 36C and two hours later emerged with three 32Es. My old bra had been added to the pile on the floor for recycling.. Apparently about 80% of women are wearing the wrong size bra. Don't be put off by appearances (I was with a friend and physically we could only get in the door one at a time because of the random piles of stuff heaped any-old-how, with just a narrow path between them leading to downstairs and more seeming chaos). I've never had a shopping experience with such focussed, unhurried yet discreet attention. Just don't expect to waltz in and out in fifteen minutes, or to be able to browse to yourself along beautiful display racks. It took a bit of time to get used to the new bras but now I feel supported in a way never before experienced, and sexy too.

A bazaar experience but fantastic. When you enter the shop you're not sure if it's actually open as it's filled with hundreds of boxes thrown on top of each other and no sign of anyone around until Madeleine's face appears from downstairs as she's always fitting someoene for a bra (she refuses to sell you a bra unless you've tried it on, and will also refuse to sell you one that doesn't fit to her very high standards).
The place itself is chaotic - i've no idea how she knows where everything is underneath the boxes of stock and piles of underwear.
Whilst you're being fitted she'll ask a steady stream of customers entering the shop to wait outside at the bustop to be seen if they want to, while she's fitting you - and people do!
I can see why though, she's incredibly passionate about what she does and has a huge range of bras at good prices - I paid around £25 for mine.
They also sell great hats too which you can try on whilst waiting instead of sitting at the bus stop ;)
Verdict: You have to wait a while to be seen, but it's worth it!

Don't be deterred by the mess of boxes in the shop. They will take all the time you need to fit and find the right bra for you. The lady who runs the shop won't give up until you're happy, try as many bras as you want!
Have your say
