Cant recommend this shop enough been here a few times and every time been served by Karen. She couldn't do enough 4 us we always come out of there with what we need. This is the only place to go 4 fancy dress thank u so much.

I can't rave enough how fantastic this shop is! I have been in here a few times for fancy-dress parties, world book Day at school and have always been greeted with friendly staff who do their best to cator for your needs. The prices are very reasonable and if they haven't got what you need they will try their best to order it in for you. If you need any dressing up outfits for adults or children this shop is well worth a visit.

I found myself at the store the night before a fancy dress party as 2 dresses did not correctly fit my daughter and another was being delivered the Saturday morning. This was always going to be a just in case costume. As all staff were busy serving one family of costumes i was never given any service other than when i requested to see face paint and when they took money. My daughter never wore the dress and when i requested a refund or exchange i was refused. Had i received any service in the first place i would never have parted with£15 for a poor quality polyester princess costume. I wouldn't recommend. The costumes are generally poor quality and if you may be buying for someone else ensure you are willing to just loose the money.

I find this review quite extra-ordinary. We pride ourselves on our customer service, most people appreciate that when an assistant is busy serving one customer, they cannot serve another but we are very aware of who is next and always try to serve them to the best of our ability.
Regarding quality of merchandise, we stock several "packaged" costume brands, Smiffy's being the most popular (indeed the largest supplier world wide to my knowledge) they are relatively inexpensive and priced accordingly, The majority of our customers cannot believe how inexpensive they are and great value for money. Regarding quality, that is down to an individual customers taste/preference, we have noticed over the past 22 years Harlequin has been stocking packaged costumes that they are getting better and better. At least you can see them and try them on!
The refund/exchange policy (which may be the brunt of this review) is clearly displayed by the till and in the changing rooms and is typical in this line of business. We always offer to hold costumes, even to phone enquiries, as we do appreciate that many people shop on-line (without trying on or seeing quality) but the practice of returning our costumes a day later if their postal costume turns up and fits has had to be removed for this high street costumiers to survive. Fitting rooms are provided remember!

Fantastic shop with all you will need for a party night out a huge choice of hire costumes and loads of costumes and accessories to buy.

This shop is fantastic!!! I have been to there many times and every time the female who usually serves me is truly amazing. After my first visit to the shop i have been having themed parties for my children ever since. They always exceed my expectations. If on the rare occasion they are unable to help, i would always be offer a helpful suggestion/alternative-even if they were not financially benefiting from it. I will always go to Harliquins for party items and highly recommend it to family and friends.

This shop is absolutely brilliant - Karen and Pete are super friendly - if its available they will have it. There is NOTHING they do not know about fancy dress. All costumes clean - hired 5 looked fab with all accessories the shop has - CAN'T RATE HIGHLY ENOUGH

top stuff in here for me and my mates. Nothing too much trouble and lots of ideas too. Unusually good service in this day and age of multi-national crap shops with boring stock. Brilliant shop- not many still around

I love this shop and have always found the staff incredibly friendly and full of creative ideas for costumes. Once, the owner even altered a costume for me free of charge. It is chockablock full of costumes from floor to ceiling. Would highly recommend.

Not sure where the other reviewer shopped as I went in this shop for PVC nurses outfit and they have acytually never stocked them!?? What they did manage to do was show me several alternative ideas for the "uniform party" I was going to and I cannot tell you just how helpful they were!!! Ideas, alterations and they were just really nice and so refreshing to be made so welcome in todays world of multi-national chainstore apathy. I could not praise them enough and know eher I shall be getting my next outfit from. Give them a call and test yourself , I speak as I find!!

I have visited Harlequin Fancy Dress supplies on more than one occassion, the second time only because there was no alternative. The staff seemed consumed with weariness and cynicism, as if they are overworked doctors treating battletorn soldiers, rather than prospective party goers. For a shop selling goods ostensibly designed for fun and revelry, the atmosphere is more akin to a funeral home, or a set from League Of Gentlemen. It is as if the staff inwardly resent the fun and creativity their customers seek. My attempts to choose a costume that involved wit and originality were met with a stony coldness. The attitude in this shop seemed to be: 'we have Austin Powers, Ali G and PVC naughty nurse outfits - what MORE could you possibly want?' My 2 visits were a depressing and unpleasant experience, and only an emergency will make me consider a third.
