I am amazed at the last review. I wonder if he was in the right place. I have been going to this restaurant since it opened and have only ever found it nothing but amazing. I think it is a shame people remain anonymous as I am sure if he found his experience that bad then the manager and his staff would have much rather he complained direct than in this way. I know for a fact that they do not like anyone to leave their establishment unhappy. I think people should go along and find out for themselves what a great place this is. The food is always fresh, the wine definitely not overpriced compared to some London restaurants. I have eaten here with family and clients on many occasions and only have praise for this excellent restaurant.

I did not want to remain anonymous but the site prevented this.

Extremely disapointed. Used to go regulaly a few years back and the food/service was outstanding. Went a few days ago to celebrate a birthday with my family. Food was disgusting. All meals were cold and most fish dishes dry. The exception to this was my fathers Sea Bass which was burnt. Wine was heavily overpriced and i could go on and on. Very upset and feel this restuarant is staying afloat due to its past reputation. I will not be visiting again. Thankyou for ruining my elderly mothers night out.

Fantastic place. The food is fresh, cooked well and arrives quickly. Have dined there frequently, and have often taken friends and clients - all of whom loved it. The manager is very entertaining and always makes it a fun experience.

I am very surpised by the negative reviews about Meson Los Barriles. I dine quite frequently at this restaurant and have always found the food fresh and exceptional in taste and variety. The wine affordable and fantastic with a great selection. The owner and staff exceptionally friendly, polite and helpful. I have recommended it to a lot of friends, who like me visit it time and time again, as we always enjoy the time spent there.

Would never dine in this establishment again, even it is was free! The food was not fresh, and we ordered seafood, the quality of the food was poor, it was dripping in oil and completely overpriced and small.it didnt come with any sauces or veg, both waitresses looked clueless when asked simple questions about the food.Overall not happy and quite frankly angry that i just wasted £30 pounds of my hard earned cash on this rotten experience.......

This is one of my favourite places. The food and service are amazing. The jamon is incredible and they serve the best calamari I've had in ages. The atmosphere is really buoyant and the food very authentic. I was really shocked at other reviews saying it was less than fantastic. Every time I have visitors here from out of town I take them there and they always love it! Even my best foodie friends couldn't fault it in any way . . .
Highly recommended.

Good food, authentic atmosphere, very nice Spanish speaking staff but the manager is a cross between Basil Fawlty and Wayne Slob. Definitely the rudest restauranteur in London. When basic mistakes are made by the staff, usually a result of the language problem, he always blames the customer. I have even seen him revving his 4 by 4 in anger outside as people left. He also has a serious working class chip on his shoulder and hates anyone in the least bit bourgeois. Shame then that both his restaurants are in the most gentrified parts of the East End, Clerkenwell and Spitalfields, perhaps he would be happier in Torremolinos and Benidorm. Go there if you want to be part of a comedy sketch

I have visited this restaurant on many occasions and have always found it a pleasure to visit, the food is lovely the staff are very friendly and always very welcoming. I read the other review on this restaurant and was very surprised at this persons opinion.
I found the prices very reasonable for the location, as I work in a village pub in kent where the prices of drinks are more expensive.
As for saying that it was like a brits bar in spain well we are in England and the majority of the people that probably use this restaurant are brits I expect anywhere you go in BRITAIN would be the same. I always find it a great atomosphere and always leave feeling very full and happy.

Not a place I’d recommend or ever return to. The atmosphere is that of a bar in a Brits-filled resort in Spain. The tapas are nothing special, but edible enough. The service wasn’t overly friendly, but the company was very congenial and it would have taken a lot to spoil our evening. Like being charged £95 for a bottle of wine, when we had ordered one for £35. The manager gave no coherent explanation for offering us something costing 3 times more than what we had ordered, saying lamely that he thought we were out on business (we v.clearly weren’t), raising his voice & getting very agitated. Eventually we reluctantly paid up (I was over ruled) and were literally pushed out the door. His loss.
