I had a meal last night at the Curry Leaf East. It looks good inside and i was made to feel welcome . I ordered two popadoms which quickly arrived. Before i had even finished the first they were back to tell me my main was ready and could they take the popadoms away. They were quiet insistant and gave me a dirty look when i said NO.
I finished the popadoms and the main arrived which was very nice. I had ordered a naam bread which by this time was dried out and cold. I'm sure it was a supermarket one.

The bigest shock was the bill, two popadoms, one main, two beers and desert £42-00 which is very pricy. I would say about £15-00 over the top.

I've eaten here as I practically live next door four times over the past few years. It is always my restaurant of last resort and I always come out feeling that I've over paid for low quality. This is the fourth time and I write this to remind myself so I don't go for a 5th.

The tikka massala base mix is heinz tomato soup, you can taste it. The biriyani has hardly any meat (I just counted seven small pieces) and the veggie curry acompanyment was diced carrot and half a potato. Seriously, anyone that gives this place a decent review either works there or owns it. On this website it's got 6 good reviews from the same person!

I don't know another Indian restaurant in the area but I would recommend a taxi journey and a voyage of discovery rather than going here.

We chose to eat here because it was opposite the Travelodge, and we were tired....
Sooooo glad we did!

The food was superb: Spring Roast Lamb Laziz was delicious.

I would definitely recommend this as a place to eat.

This is quite simply my favourite Indian Restaurant, one I visit whenever I am in London. There is the usual range of Indian dishes and quite a few more unusual ones, but it is in the vegetarian offerings that the restautant excels - the aubergine dish is superb. Friendly staff and a pleasant ambience make this ideal for an evening meal.

Posh take on curry with little chef'e touches.
Really enjoyed it and let us in late when all the other local restaurants refused! Has the usual classic dishes but many specials too, lots of variety.A good curry after a few beers!

I have been to this restaurant several times and being indian myself would recommend this place to anyone who wants a hearty indian meal that tastes like it should and some! In fact I would say this place is benchmark in its cuisine. The service is friendly and efficient as a plus.
Have your say
