The popularity of these restaurants with Middle Eastern locals is a good pointer to the quality of the Iranian cuisine at Alounak. All the dishes on the menu are Halal dishes and are very reasonably priced and served in an authentic atmosphere. They are BYO (Bring Your Own) restaurants. A takeaway and delivery service is also provided.

Best For
Top restaurants where you can bring your own booze
Still great food but save a quid or two on the bar bill
These two restaurants in West Kensington and Bayswater have a great reputation among Iranians, who flock here for the great value grilled kebabs. There is no corkage fee for BYOB.

Unfortunately, this establishment has let itself down given that I attended and ordered the chelo kabab and within 90 minutes of having dined there I fell sick with food poisoning. I am in the process of communicating with health authorities and will be claiminng compensation from them.

I was taken to this restaurant by an Iranian friend who knows how to eat. I have been about 6 times and have enjoyed each visit. We no longer live in London but on our annual visit to London my wife and I always eat here. The service may be without a smile, but the food comes fast. On my last visit I had the lamb, chick pea, lime, tomato stew served with rice. My wife had the chicken kebab. Both were big portions and very filling. As a starter, order the fresh flat bread with the tarragon, mint, radish, feta cheese salad. Order bread as and when you need it as when goes cold its not very nice. We also had the humous, not too smooth, very nice. It does get very busy even on Monday nights, so get there early, we arrived at about 6:00 pm. and got a table straight away. Wide range of nationalities, but lots of middle eastern families. Forgo the cutlery and use your fingers. Good honest food.

This is the second time I have been to this restaurant now and even though I thought the service to be somewhat lacking the first time, the second time it was plain bad. It shouldn't be something of a hardship to welcome your customers in and smile. We were left waiting to order our food as the only waiting staff were eating themselves, get your priorities in check. Food is nice however but it is a fact that I will not go back based on the service received and being left feeling uncomfortable by their surly attitude. Had to laugh when the service charge was added on, but being British we paid up and said nothing so our own fault really!

Persian food as first experience in westbourne grove was just miserable,
chicken was marinated probably for halfs hour, not tasting of spices, just a baby chicken and over coocked as well. Lamb was ok, must be ok in a Persian Restaurant.
service was ghost, absolutely unprofessional and for one of the waitress, was like losing time, like i got nothing better to do tonight.
price was ok.
service negative
food need more attention.

During a weekend break to london with my iranian family we visited Alounak restaurant (westbourne grove) saturday 26th november. We were very pleased with the restaurant as it represented iran very well with the authentic interior and delicious food. The restaurant was full proving it to be popular with the locals. My favourite has to be the fresh persian bread that is made before your eyes! The staff were friendly and we thoroughly enjoyed it.
