Art Exhibition – contemporary artists experiment on the Mona Lisa in Acton

181 contemporary artists, from 51 countries, have individually reinterpreted the Mona Lisa for The Gioconda Project. Their art will completely fill the W3Gallery in Acton, London, from 25 Feb 2014 to 05 March. The exhibition is free to attend.

Through their inspired creations, all contributing artists have joined a not-for-profit experiment to bring Contemporary Art to everyone through one of the most famous works of art in history “La Gioconda”.

The Mona Lisa reimagined!

Traditional painting and drawing will be showcased next to illustration, collage, mark making and digital art. All the pieces form ‘The Big Mural’ and the first time The Gioconda Project has been exhibited in a gallery in the UK. This is the W3Gallery’s largest single exhibition to date.

Creative Director, Pablo Jurado Ruiz, continues to receive art from all over the world, despite closing his invitation to artists to reimagine the Mona Lisa in their preferred style and technique.

The Gioconda Project appreciate the confidence and participation of all artists, as the project would not be successful without them.

Pablo Jurado Ruiz’s highly detailed pointillism and digital artwork is also part of the exhibition. He shares a passion for pointillism and stippling with the UK artist Lisa Moldau, aka illustrxn; together they are both producing the exhibition in the UK.

W3Gallery is a new gallery in the heart of Acton (and so new it is not even on Google Street View!) that opened in September 2012 and brought to light an arena of talented artists.
