Top venues to party as a student in London
Sick of sitting in a filthy house eating Pot Noodle whilst playing Call of Duty? You need to go out and have a few cheap drinks and a kebab.
If you haven't already blown this week's budget on Findus Crispy Pancakes and Marlboro Lights then it'll be burning a hole in your pocket. What to do, what to do?
Can we suggest getting pretty well trashed (responsibly, of course) and gripping off with a stranger? Sounds better than getting stuck into that thesis, doesn't it?
Well, here's a list of the very best venues in London where you can run into more of your kind and discuss, at great length, the finer details of the perfect potato waffle and your ultimate daytime TV schedule. (If it doesn't include Homes Under The Hammer, you're an idiot.)
A free, late night bar in the heart of Shoreditch? What could go wrong? The Mother Bar has welcomed those students looking for something a little different from their nights out for years. Its trad chic interior hosts an eclectic lineup of DJs every night.
The Ministry hosts Milkshake, one of the capital’s biggest student nights. Five rooms of music so there’s something for everyone and drinks promotions for those with NUS. Plus, there’s a great sound-system to boot.
If you like to drink in central London for student prices then the Zoo Bar is the place to be on Monday nights. Cheesy divas and lads will be present en masse but for the prices, what’s a feather boa or two?
Anybody that ever went to university in London knows of the pleasures of Wednesday night’s Cheapskates. If you can handle distinctly suspicious spirits then it’s only ever fun. Prepare for irony overload.

Hip enough for the local Camberwell Art College, Hermit’s Cave is just a simple little pub with a good atmosphere. Made for afternoon drinking.

Pop. Pop. Popular! Catch is the Shoreditch club that can do no wrong. Always full. Always cool. DJs, live bands, exhibitions and more. What the more is we don’t know, but it’s bound to be good!
By the same people that serve up Vice Magazine, this remains one of east London’s gems. It may have smartened itself up but its still a place to feel rocker any night of the week. Live bands and DJs and plenty of fun.
The Soho subterranean club has been popular with London’s students for years. Catch Gaz’s Rockin’ Blues on Thursday nights to mix with the city’s art students and all those who like their music with a little soul.
The Roxy is almost totally focused on the student crowd, and if not students then those who want to relive days gone by. King of the indie disco; visit for anything from The Strokes to the Kinks.
