History in London

If you talk about history in London, you talk about the Tower of London. Buildt around 1100, it has grown to what it is now. Ofcourse lots of tourists come together here to see where Anne Boleyn was beheaded and to hear about the mysterious disappearance of the Two Princes of the tower. And there is the story about the Raven who live in the Tower. One of the best ways to discover all about the site, is to have a guided tour. The Yeomen take you on a tour through the history of London and also of England. Believe it or not, animals once lived between the walls. There was a circus. It is strange to say, but once Queens lived here before they were crowned. So it is very ironic that Queen Anne Boleyn lost her head at the same place.

Every evening a special ceremony takes place at the Tower. The ceremony of the keys is something I have never seen, but if you want to attend it, you have to send a letter. Here you can find more information. http://www.hrp.org.uk/TowerOfLondon/WhatsOn/ceremonyofthekeys.aspx?EventDate=&Step=View

There is much to do and much to see at the Tower Of London. If you want to visit, buy your tickets on line or arrive early at the gates to avoid cues. For the fashionable ladies here, please don't wear any high heels. The pavement is mostly made of cobblestones, and hard to walk with high heels. If you want to know more about "what to do" at the Tower of London, you can visit the official website. There you can also read about the Towers history, and about the ghosts, that still haunt the Tower. Although a tourist trap (sort of), the Tower is a nicer attraction for people who like history.
