London College of Fashion - Class of 2011

Love London

Last week saw the fashion glitterati descend on the V&A Museum for London College of Fashion's annual MA Fashion graduate show. Held in the stunning Raphael Galleries, 22 students exhibited their final collections in front of a star-spangled front row packed with famous faces, world-class buyers and prestigious fashion press.

In a show dominated by menswear (only seven of the 22 collections were for the girls) it was the womenswear that really stood out for me. Jennifer Morris' collection (above left) made a statement amongst the monochromatic palettes of her contemporaries; her diaphanous tropical-hued gowns set the catwalk alight in a riot of colour. Vibrant shades of coral, turquoise, gold, violet, cobalt and tangerine blended together seamlessly to create a visual assault on the eyes.

Another favourite was Dinu Bodiciu's (above centre) gorgeously structured pieces, which lent a feminine elegance to a very male-dominated show. Beautifully-cut mohair jackets sat over deliciously draped cowl neck silk tops underneath, a perfect combination of textures.

The finale of the show came from menswear designer Louise Simmonds (above right), whose Hugh Hefner-inspired collection ended on a high note with a spectacularly sumptuous cream coat, resplendent with silk lining and trimmed in mink. An undoubtedly gorgeous piece, but somewhat better suited to a girl methinks...

Nevertheless, there was an array of fantastic design on display. To catch a glimpse of the collections you can visit the LCF Graduate Exhibition at Victoria House which is open free to the public until 9th February. For more information visit http://www.fashion.arts.ac.uk/ma/
