Zizzi to ban couples on Valentine's Day and play cupid

The All In London Blog

This year, the famous high street Italian chain, Zizzi, is the first ever restaurant to impose a couples ban. For one night only the Central St Giles, London restaurant, will be dedicated to all of the single people in the city, without a couple in sight. Love birds will still be able to enjoy a romantic meal for two at the other 113 restaurants nationwide.

Central St Giles is building a reputation as a music destination, following the success of The Zizzi Live Music Sessions. For the 14th February Zizzi has teamed up with new online dating and social networking site, Tastebuds, which aim to match people based on their musical tastes. They will be inviting down some of their members to enjoy the evening festivities, which include live music, unlimited free canapés, prosecco between 7-8, wine tasting and the chance to meet new people. Any other single Londoners who don't want to spend the night surrounded by loved-up couples can also attend.

Liz Norris, Marketing Director at Zizzi, commented: "London has the highest single population in the UK, so we thought it would be great to make one of our largest London restaurants the ultimate destination for anyone looking for love on the 14th and to enjoy a night specially designed for them. Zizzi is already an extremely popular venue for dates across the country and Valentine's night is one of our busiest evenings of the year. We're excited to be trying our hand at matchmaking at St Giles by creating an evening just for single Londoners, who report that being surrounded by loved up couples on the night is their worst nightmare.

We'd like to continue to be the ultimate destination for romance, so we'll be playing Cupid on Valentine's Day and hope to see some sparks fly across the restaurant."
