London, what's the big idea?

The All In London Blog

Just launched is a brand new webzine called Think-work-play.com which is all about London people and their big ideas. It celebrates the creative process by showcasing inspirations and influences, processes and prototyping, editing and exhibiting. So far we have features on Icon magazine, The New Young Pony Club, The Rebel Dining Society and The Union Cycle Works to name just a few.

The site acts is an exhibition space where ideas are showcased from inception, through development and eventual realisation, whether it be paintings or sculptures, TV commercials or music promos, tapestries, dresses, magazines or events. Regardless of what it is, it’s about getting inside the idea and exploring the concept, where it came from and how its ends up.

The idea of ‘Think-Work-Play’ is a way of talking about creativity - the transformational process between perception and reality. However, its not just the spark of inspiration, the eureka moment, it’s the continued process of problem solving and idea generation along the creative journey. Think-work-play.com will aim to showcase the holistic process of creation, focusing on ideas through the key stages of Think, Work and Play. See below for a breakdown:

THINK: We want to get inside initial ideas and take a look at how they all begin. We want to explore what inspires people, how briefs or commissions are interpreted – the first thoughts, how they change, what remains constant and how things change.
WORK: This is about showcasing the work in progress, the steps forward from initial concept towards end product. It’s about taking a look inside studios, at prototyping, at what sound-tracks the project, what feeds it and drives it forward or sometimes taking it down a blind alley but always informing the end result.
PLAY: This is all about the joy of the end product – the fruit of the creative labours, celebrating structures, virals, frocks, paintings, parties, music promos, illustrations and beyond.
