A few weeks ago I began my weekend lying face down on a plastic covered table butt naked except for a pair of paper pants and a shower cap. Fear not, I haven't joined some kind of cult, I was merely partaking in the what I now know to be heavenly experience of a Brazilian Body Wrap.
I had located a discount voucher on www.wahanda.com, my new go-to beauty find. This gem of a website is a veritable feast for any beauty junkie, consisting of a comprehensive catalogue of special offers and discounts on a vast array of treats, from facials, massages and manicures to haircuts, spa breaks and body bootcamps. My voucher saved me 25% off the wrap; originally £60 I only paid £45 - a bargain.
I visited Brazilian by Brazilian, a salon tucked in the basement of Toni & Guy on Davies Street in Mayfair. The treatment began with a deliciously scented honey and oat body scrub that smelled good enough to eat. Following a quick shower my skin was left super soft and ready for the next step. I was then (for want of a better word...) smothered in their unique Brazilian mud - an interesting if slightly messy experience - before being wrapped in the aforementioned plastic sheet and draped in towels.
Then came the good part. I had noticed the treatment table I was lying on slowly warming up but hadn't thought anything of it. Turns out it unzips to become a giant heated sleeping bag - lush. I was cocooned in this cosy paradise for about 30 minutes - optimum snoozing time - while my therapist treated me to a mini facial with head and neck massage. After sweating it out in my little duvet oven (it did become a little warm towards the end...) I hopped in for another shower to rinse off, before finishing the treatment with an all over body moisturisation. I skipped out of the salon feeling refreshed and revived, my skin was definitely softer and felt firmer, though I am unsure if I lost any inches as I forgot to measure myself beforehand...whoops! Nevertheless, it was still a delightfully relaxing experience!
