London Tube Badges

The All In London Blog

For many London commuters, distinguishing between a pregnant and a simply bloated belly can cause anxiety when deciding whether to offer a seat. London Underground ingeniously launched the 'Baby on board!' badge to inform other passengers that its appropriate to (and that they should) offer up their seat to the pregnant wearer. They shouldn't have stopped with one badge as the possibly pregnant lady isn't the only awkward tube moment. Seeing as it is almost illegal to actually speak to a fellow passenger, badges could just be the answer to getting through your daily commute....and possibly life in general!

Chloe Lee Carson has designed a range of 5 badges which build on the concept of the 'Baby on board!' badge. They include a badge to save embarrassment for the not pregnant wearer as well as alternative approaches to obtaining a treasured seat.

Badges read:

- I'm not pregnant, I just had a big lunch!
- Seat hunter!
- Get, lost that seat is mine?
- Can I have your seat please?
- I'm a tourist, please be patient!

These less than subtle badges aim to help meet your commuting needs.
