American accessories label Coach - currently fronted by one Gwyneth Paltrow - has collaborate with fashion blogger Emily Johnston of Fashion Foie Gras to create an exclusive bag aimed at fashion bloggers.
Originally from the United States and now based in London, Emily has been a fan of the iconic American brand since she was a child. Witnessing Emily’s passion for the brand, Coach approached her about a design collaboration and invited her to its New York headquarters to design a bag.
With the aim for the bag to be functional and useful, as well as aesthetically chic and contemporary, they chose a large tote shape accentuated by key details such as padded pocket on the side to hold a digital SLR camera and a sectioned compartment to store flat shoes - a necessity in my world. The main body of the bag is natural canvas trimmed with leather, complemented by central vertical stripes in blue and white – dominant colors of both the American and British flags. While originally intended to appeal to Emily’s blogging peers, the stylish design is suited to any individual who lives a life full of technology and travel.
Emily said, “Since being given the opportunity to design a bag with Coach, my feet haven't touched the ground! Coach is the pinnacle of luxury and sophistication. Designing a bag with a brand that I have always held in such high regard has been the most nerve-racking, but also the most exhilarating, experience of my life. I couldn't be prouder or more pleased with what we have produced."
While it's undoubtedly beautiful, and everything I need in a bag, at £495 it's a hefty price to pay if it's aimed at bloggers - while a handful of the blogging elite may well be raking it in with advertising deals, for us mere mortals scraping a living it will have to stay but a pipe dream. If anyone has a spare one I would be willing to take it off your hands and put it to good use....
