What is in a name, that which we call a Rose...

Love London

So the festival of love that is Valentine's Day is nearly upon us, and while I generally try to avoid it like the plague (crass, vile Hallmark holiday that it is...) this year it would appear there are just too many lovely gift ideas around for me to not share with you. I have a few treats in store over the next few days to buy your special someone (or, in my case, myself) should you find the urge, the first of which comes courtesy of my favourite thing to come out of Greece since feta cheese, beauty brand Korres.

Using locally sourced wild roses to produce their best selling skincare range, Korres have introduced a new Aphrodite’s Rose Gift Set celebrating this Valentine's Day. Containing a Rose Wood, Blackcurrant and Cyclamen Eau de Toilette (100ml) and a Wild Rose Brightening Mask (40ml), the set is available at £45 from

The Eau de Toilette is a delicious sparkling floral concoction with top notes of rose, pink grapefruit and blackcurrant, a heart of rose wood, mint leaves, freesia, cyclamen and lily and a base of woods and white flowers. Individually feminine, it's contemporary yet classic. The combination of Rose and Rose Wood brings out the sweet floral scent, through the contrast with the warm, deep bark aroma.

The mask, suitable for all skin types, provides an instant brightening effect immediately. Wild Rose oil is a natural source of vitamin C, which demonstrates significant repairing activity to fine lines and skin blemishes. At the same time, an active complex targets skin discolorations and promotes cell renewal, boosting the skin with brightness and radiance.

The scent of roses might not be to everyone's liking, but I adore it. I am never short of a rose-scented hand cream or fragrance (I've built up quite the collection including Stella and Crabtree & Evelyn's Rosewater) but this has stood out as a favourite, not too heady yet not too sickly sweet either. A perfect pressie for any worthy lady this V-Day.
