LONDON 2012: Radio 1's Aled Haydn-Jones shares his London TIPS...

London Art Scene from The Art Stop

Hey Londoners, Aled Haydn-Jones here!

I’m reviewing the best of what London has to offer during the Paralympic Games for All in London.

Have a look at my top five which includes a couple of restaurants, theatre shows and places to drink.

These are great places to visit to avoid the delay and disruption on public transport during the Paralympic Games.

1. Skylon – Royal Festival Hall, London, SE1 8XX
The Conran-owned restaurant is situated in the Royal Festival Hall. It is a bit pricey with cocktails from £12.50; it’s definitely a bit of a treat. The choice and quality of the cocktails is amazing and the view of the Thames is magnificent. I would recommend it for a special occasion, cocktails, desserts and the vista!

2. Priceless London Wonderground – Underbelly, 5 Bywell Place, London, W1T 3DN
Wonderground is close to the river and near the London Eye. Cantina, is a comedy cabaret which is on every day from now until September. Tickets start at £15 and go up to £30. It’s perfect for those looking for something a little different to do after work during the Paralympic Games.

3. Shrek – Theatre Royal, Dury Lane, Catherine Street, London, WC2B 5JF
Shrek at Theatre Royal is fantastic and Carley Stenson is a brilliant Fiona! The show itself is definitely a must-see, starting at 7.30pm, it’s great for an after work trip. It remains true to the film with just enough adult humour to make it suitable for all ages and it’s a great laugh.

4. Globe Theatre - 21 New Globe Walk, Bankside, London, SE1 9DT
The Globe Theatre are currently rotating Shakespeare’s performances of Taming the Shrew and Henry V and Richard III starting every night at 7.30pm. With tickets from just £5, this is a great way of reliving your childhood.

5. Mai Sushi - 36-38 Chalton Street, London, NW1 1JB
This Japanese restaurant is tucked down Charlton Street and doesn't really stand out but inside, it’s a delightful family run establishment. The service was personal and very friendly and the food was excellent and very affordable. The staff were fantastic at explaining the dishes on offer which added to making the meal a really enjoyable experience.
