It's not often a local curry house in South London gets to throw a big party - let alone a charity gala attended by a wealth of exciting celebrities. But last night, that's exactly what happened at the Chak 89 restaurant in Mitcham, to celebrate their third annual Elbrook Charity Gala.

This year's event was in aid of the Sue Ryder Foundation - an organisation who generously campaign and support those with long-term or terminal illnesses, by “delivering health and social care services”.

The night itself welcomed a wealth of high-profile appearances. Boyband Blue showed up to dazzle attendees with a few of their classic songs, while JLS stars JB Gill, Oritse Williams and Aston Merrygold also attended - although they admitted they were there to show support for the worthy cause AND eat the delicious curry being served up.

Other special guests included boxer Ashley Theophane, Lucy Pinder, Kerry Katona and former The Only Way Is Essex stars Lydia Bright and Mark Wright, while David Haye kindly donated a sparring session with himself to the evening's big auction. Even Olympian Mo Farah (a fan of the restaurant) got involved by creating a pre-recorded, heartfelt plea to attendees to support Sue Ryder – and the FA Cup made a special appearance too.

The evening raised a staggering £15,000 for charity, with many local businesses and suppliers going home with one of the exclusive auction prizes.
