I am aware that I'm featuring a piece of furniture on a beauty blog, but I was recently daydreaming about my ultimate fantasy house involving walk-in dressing room (with floor to ceiling shoes a la Mariah Carey...) when I stumbled across this marble marvel - the ultimate dressing table perchance?
Just one of the unique delights to pore through on new website TheMintList.com, this vintage washstand, circa 1910, is on its original casters with a black marble top and splash-back, including a holder for a towel rail on the side. The cupboard doors and side panels are decorated in oil slick black wallpaper featuring a silver holographic motif of a naked lady's outline - so beautiful. I can't help imagining what it would look like in my (admittedly slightly too small...) bathroom with a vintage three piece mirror and my dozens of perfume bottles, lipsticks and powders strewn atop it. It may have to wait for me to have a slightly larger house, but a girl can dream...
Bringing together visually inspiring, art, furniture and home accessories from an emerging collection of independent partners, TheMintList.com is a brand new concept in online shopping carefully curated by Camilla Kelly, the daughter of two antiques trade professionals. Seeking out the most exciting, dissident designers, artists and shops, giving cultural-inspired, time-poor interiors lovers an offering no high street store will, it fills a gap by offering distinctive, handpicked artisan pieces not yet discovered by the mainstream.
In addition to the new online store comes a completely new creative concept in wedding lists; couples can pick and choose from unique independents and then share the gift list experience with friends and family via a personalised webpage. Post-wedding, they then enjoy a bespoke shopping day visiting their chosen artist's gallery, designer’s studio or shop. Genius.
