If you fancy staying social and getting active in London... then GO Mammoth

The All In London Blog

2012 is definitely London’s year, with the Queen’s Jubilee, the London 2012 Olympics, and everyone grouping together to support our guys at the Euro’s, it is a great place to be.

London is by far the best City I have lived in, however we all feel a little bit lost sometimes, and everything can get on top of us. Especially moving to London as a young professional, you can be dubious of what to expect and sometimes let work take over your life and not appreciate all that London has to offer.

Work often takes priority over your social life, as well as your exercise routine. I believe we have a solution. A company called GO Mammoth organise social sports leagues across the whole of London. This is the perfect way to release the stress of your days work, get in a bit of exercise while releasing those much loved endorphins, and meet new people in your teams while socialising in the pub afterwards.

They offer a variety of different London sports leagues. From the well known team sports like Netball, Football, Rugby and Basketball, to new, and increasingly popular sports such as Ultimate Frisbee, Dodgeball and Beach Volleyball. There seems to be a sport to suit everybody’s needs. The leagues are all extremely social, appealing to those who may not want to play within a highly competitive environment. They offer a good mix of recreational leagues as well as the intermediate, more competitive leagues. Whether you wish to try a new sport, improve your skills, or purely socialise in a healthy and fun environment, this will be perfect for you.

You have the option to sign up as an individual, or register as a team with friends or work colleagues. All leagues are run over an 8-12 week period, and games are played on a certain day each week over that period. Just head to their website, find a sport you wish to play, select the best venue, choose the dates most appropriate for you and sign up and pay. As an individual you get assigned to a team of other individuals. All teams get e-mailed their details and fixtures for the season a week prior to the beginning of the league.

Once the league begins and you’ve met your team, you will thoroughly enjoy yourself. You may even re-sign up as a team for the next season, or even try your hand at a different sport?

GO Mammoth also arrange regular socials for their members. These differ but are often an arranged night in a bar/club with drinks discounts, a perfect way to socialise with your team out of leagues, as well as meet other people/teams playing in your league or in a totally different GO Mammoth sports league.

Work hard and play hard. Make sure you make the most of the London lifestyle, your day does not finish when the clock hits 5:30pm.
