Winter Hair Heroes

Love London

This time of year undoubtedly plays havoc with one's hair. Blustery winds, frizz-inducing damp and central heating all contribute to turning my once glossy mane into a limp, lacklustre mess and with party season upon me it simply will not do.

Luckily there are some wonderful products to come to the rescue and lend a helping hand to ensure your winter hair is just as sumptuous and radiant as at any other time of year.

I'm a big fan of Redken's All Soft range. Formulated for dry, brittle hair, it features Redken's exclusive Interlock Protein Network and Keratin Enrich Complex, packed with omega-6 enriched argan oil to replenish hair's protein and nourish it for intense softness, as well as avocado oil, olive oil and silk amino acid to provide strength. It pretty much does what it says on the tin. The combination of the All Soft Shampoo (£12.75), Conditioner (£13.75) and Heavy Cream (£20.75), a super intense treatment, will leave hair manageable and super-soft once more. Available exclusively in salons. Visit www.redken.co.uk for stockists.

Next up is the Macadamia Natural Oil Deep Repair Masque (£26.95 for 250ml). This is seriously heavy going, a really thick, almost solid deep mask that you can really feel working. Remarkably lightweight, macadamia oil’s unique composition gives it an uncanny similarity and compatibility to sebum, the natural oils that our own scalp produces. It's this unique similarity that makes it so effective, allowing the oil to infuse into hair and scalp with extraordinarily fast absorption. It's recommended to leave the mask on for 7 minutes to get maximum effect and it leaves hair completely nourished and intensely conditioned. For seriously damaged hair, try tying hair in a high pony tail, smothering it in the mask, tying in a bun and covering with a shower cap over night (so you don't get it on your pillow) before washing as normal in the morning. For a more budget-friendly treatment, head to the Dove shelf at Boots. A luxurious 1-minute beauty treat that will help your hair look and feel its best this winter, the Hair Express Treatment Conditioner range is a trio of ultra-nourishing treatments: Dove Intensive Repair Express Treatment Conditioner (RRP £2.99 for 180ml) is specially formulated to help repair damaged hair in just 5 washes. Dove Nourishing Oil Care Express Conditioner (RRP £3.99 for 180ml) is made with weightless Nutri-Oils enriched with argan, coconut, almond oils and rich in vitamins E and F. Dove Colour Radiance Express Conditioner (RRP £3.99 for 180ml) - Keeps colour-treated hair vibrant for up to 10 washes.

Lastly, I know I only blogged about the new Dove Pure Care Dry Oils last month, but they've become my go-to hair saviour recently so deserve another mention. Super-light and non-greasy, use to smooth through ends on wet hair for an uber soft blow dry, or as a taming serum for flyaways. Shame they don't make a handbag-sized mini version! £9.99 for 100ml from Boots.
