This time of year spells disaster for one's skin; festive overindulgence, freezing temperatures and central heating have all contributed to a vile combination of dry patches, oily patches and annoyingly teenage breakouts. Whilst I would love to have the clear skin I'll happily show off during the summer months, it's much more likely to be lurking under a thick layer of matte foundation. So when I heard of the fabulous facial menu Elemis had to offer I jumped at the chance to give one a go.
Back in November, Debenhams Oxford Street celebrated its 200th birthday with a massive overhaul of its beauty hall, unveiling a crisp, shiny, new offering to rival its neighbours, including Elemis' flagship retail counter. The accompanying new Skin Lounge treatment area brought with it an exciting new treatment menu, offering options for everything from 15 minute lunchtime quick fixes to indulgent hour long treats - the ultimate destination for instant skin therapy.
Sean Harrington, Managing Director of Elemis, said at the time: “We have been fortunate enough to have launched our flagship Elemis counter with Debenhams Oxford Street over 7 years ago and we’re delighted to have developed an entirely new vision and concept for the stores incredible new beauty hall. As a British brand we are proud of our association and partnership and to be part of its successful business in being an iconic British retailer both in the UK and global markets.”
Upon visiting for a facial one chilly Sunday afternoon, my skin was first assessed with a personalised one-to-one consultation with an Elemis skincare specialist. My face was photographed and I was given a bespoke SkinLab analysis, pinpointing particular areas of dryness, bacteria, redness and inflammation not necessarily visible to the naked eye.
I had decided in advance to try the Signature Tri-Enzyme Resurfacing Facial which my therapist confirmed would be a good choice; with the aim of revealing smoother, renewed skin, Tri-Enzyme serums are layered in a unique treatment that targets blemishes, uneven skin tone, superficial facial scarring and fine lines, to reveal younger looking skin. Having been clinically proven to resurface by up to 75% and increase skin smoothness by up to 32% after just 1 treatment it sounded like just what the doctor ordered. After a relaxing cleanse, the application of the enzymes certainly tingled, it's probably not one for those with sensitive skin (you can definitely feel it doing something...) but I was pleasantly surprised that the next day I noticed a definite difference. My skin instantly felt smoother, really clean without being dehydrated and my uneven, spotty patches began to clear up.
Since my facial I've been using the Tri-Enzyme Resurfacing Facial Wash, Apricot Toner and Pro-Collagen Marine Cream day and night and have continued to see an improvement in my winter skin. With a vast menu of treatment options available, there's certainly going to be something suitable for your skin type at Elemis.
