Vintage Screenings Presents Funny Face - Wednesday 4th June

Love London

I am extremely excited to discover that one of my all-time favourite films is returning to the big screen, courtesy of Vintage Screenings from Notting Hill vintage boutique The Gathering Goddess.

Following on from its first sell out event, Vintage Screenings returns to bring classic films and vintage glamour to the May Fair Hotel on Wednesday 4th May, showing the Audrey Hepburn classic, Funny Face. The romantic 1957 musical, co-starring Fred Astaire and Kay Thompson and directed by Stanley Donen, follows the journey of a photographer who unexpectedly discovers a new fashion model in a bookshop clerk and the pair’s subsequent trip to Paris. With incredible costumes by Hubert de Givenchy (who can forget the stunning image of Audrey running down the steps in the Louvre in the red column dress, trailing a chiffon scarf behind her...), the film is scored by George Gershwin, with the famous 'S'Wonderful, S'Marvellous amongst it's many stunning songs.

In association with FarFetch, the evening will be hosted by actress Gemma Chan.

Jose Neves, FarFetch founder and CEO said, “Farfetch is really pleased to support the Vintage Film Screening program by The Gathering Goddess. As one of our partner boutiques with a strong local following in London, we are very keen to support The Gathering Goddess' innovative initiative to add an experiential aspect to its vintage proposition. With Gemma Chan hosting and Audrey Hepburn starring in the film, we're sure the evening will turn out to be a stylish affair.”

Gemma commented, “I am delighted to be hosting a Vintage Screening. I think it's a brilliant idea to have a night where classic film and vintage fashion can be celebrated together- fashion and film go hand in hand, one often being an inspiration for the other.”

The evening commences at 6:30pm with pre-screening drinks in the hotel’s atrium where we will be offering Mayfair cocktails and once guests have enjoyed what can only be called one of Audrey’s best movies; those inspired by Miss Hepburn’s enthralling style and panache will have an opportunity to shop similar looks plus other vintage treasures.

Tickets are available now at £50 each from
