Luxury handbag and accessories brand Strathberry of Scotland has become the first Scottish brand to work with salmon skin in its collection.
Its iridescent look of salmon skin give a taste of the exotic without resorting to the us of 'traditional' exotic skins such as snake or crocodile, whilst being widely available in Scotland, thin, flexible and extremely strong; the tensile strength of salmon is greater than that of leather of the same thickness.
MD Guy Hundleby explains; "We like the fact that salmon has such strong connections with Scotland, but also the fact that finding an innovative use for this by product of the salmon fishing industry is a healthy and environmentally positive story."
