After a week in the sun in Ibiza I've returned straight into a packed schedule of shows and events. Yes readers, London Fashion Week has once again returned. Where has this year gone? It seems like barely five minutes ago that we were battling the wind and rain to make it to February's shows, and now here we are all over again trotting around town, fighting through the crowds of street style snappers at Somerset House and reporting back on what we're all set to be wearing next summer, all before Autumn's even properly arrived.
London Fashion is far from being the frivolous frou frou week many peg it to be; it is in fact a multi billion pound industry that's essential to the UK economy. Here be a few interesting facts and figures to whet your appetite for the coming week...
- In February 2014 there were over 300,000 mentions of #LFW on twitter over 5 days, and nearly 100,000 images tagged #LFW on Instagram
- In February 2014 fashion bloggers produced more than 4,174 articles during the five days of London Fashion Week February 2014
- London Fashion Week live streams are watched from 190 countries worldwide (Make a note: if you only catch one, make it Burberry at 1pm on Monday!)
- 82 designers are showing on schedule at London Fashion Week. 58 catwalk shows and 24 presentations will take place over 5 days
- Over 170 UK and international emerging and established, ready-to-wear and accessory designers will take part in the Designer Showrooms at London Fashion Week
