For over 30 years, Aveda has been committed to its mission of ‘caring for the world we live in’ and setting an example for ‘environmental leadership and responsibility’.
Every year, the entire Aveda network unites for Earth Month, raising money and awareness for the 768 million people around the world that still cannot access clean water. For 2015, Aveda will be hosting a #ThoughtfulThursday weekly yoga sessions at the Aveda Lifestyle Salon and Spa, Covent Garden, at 7:45AM every Thursday from 2nd – 30th April.
With Yogic philosophy echoing that of Aveda and its Ayurvedic heritage, Aveda will be inviting members of the public and friends of Aveda to join them on this physical and spiritual journey. Each yoga session asks for a minimum donation of £5 which will go towards Earth Month fundraising efforts and each practise will be dedicated to the communities around the world that this charity initiative seeks to support. Working in partnership with Nahid de Belgeonne, Founder of Good Vibes Glow Yoga, Nahid will personally guide each unique #ThoughtfulThursday session – focusing on wellbeing and mindfulness.
All fundraising proceeds will support WaterAid, the Aveda UK charity partner. Since 2009 Aveda UK have worked with WaterAid to improve safe water access, sanitation and women’s empowerment in Nepal, India and Ethiopia. This year, funds raised by the Aveda Earth Month initiative will support communities in India, where nearly two thirds of the population don’t have access to safe sanitation and over 186,000 children under five die every year from water-related diseases.
Continuing to encourage wellbeing and mindfulness, each #ThoughtfulThursday Aveda will be sharing a thought for the day via the @AvedaUK Twitter page. Here's a thoughtful fact to consider: Just £16 enables one person living in Madagascar access to a lasting supply of safe water, improved hygiene and sanitation for 365 days.
