Big Hair Helpers

Love London

Voluminous hair has always been my follicular holy grail. They say the grass is always greener and never more so than when you are blessed with the kind of hair you wished would play ball a little more often.

Don’t get me wrong, it could always be worse - at least I have hair - but I’m sure I’m not the only one who craves a thicker mane and a tad more volume from time to time (every day). Luckily there’s been a plethora of products developed to lend a helping hand. I've been trying out a dynamic duo from R+Co (www.randco.com), the combination of their Cactus Texturizing Shampoo and Dallas Thickening Conditioner and I'm pleased to report they're doing a sterling job at giving me a bigger bouffant.

A blend of texture-building particles in Cactus brings out hair’s natural wave and personality while providing grit and grip for an instantly more manageable, easy-to-style mane. With a scent blending bergamot, wild fig, cyclamen, lotus flower, cedarwood and tonka beans it smells pretty darn dreamy too. Dallas is a clever recipe for Texas-sized hair, adding volume and bounce without being too heavy. Another delicious scent, this one combines cardamom and pineapple with tangerine, lavender, bamboo and blonde woods.

Of course it's not just what you put on your hair that affects it, employing some clever styling techniques can work wonders. Inanch Emir, founder of hair extension experts Inanch London, also gave me some tips for a super volumising do:

"Depending on how much time you have, let your hair dry naturally or rough dry it after washing. Apply some rollers around the top and sides and put the back in a nice messy bun. Once the top and sides have set, plait the sides of your hair and pull apart slightly so it looks a little undone. Then wrap these sides in to the back and pin in to place. Remove the remaining rollers from the top section, spray some of your R+Co Death Valley Dry Shampoo, mess it up a bit and just push back your hair to blend in to the back and pin if necessary."

Genius. Big hair here I come!
