The Bloom Room Returns

A Londoner Travels

Celebrating Sakura season is not just for Japan, with a generous sprinkling of cherry blossom bedecking the capital's establishments this spring. Following the success of last year's venture, Leicester Square's P.F. Chang's Asian Table has brought back its Bloom Room until the end of May, with an Instagram-worthy floral den and a some tasty dishes to accompany it.

Here at All in London we've been big fans of P.F. Chang's since it opened; with its pan-Asian many of tasty classics and unique dishes, from cult classics like their signature Dynamite Shrimp, drizzled with a fiery sriracha mayo, to new additions like the sweet and sticky Honey Chicken, we're yet to have a bad meal there.

The latest was no exception. Their tiger rolls are delicious, the tender flank steak of the Mongolian Beef was melt in the mouth and the Tempura Cauliflower we had on the side packed a mean punch, but it was the spoils of The Bloom Room's dessert menu that really floated our boat.

The Japanese, created by the in-house Pastry Lab, include an almost-too-pretty-to-eat Sakura Tree (£8), a vanilla cheesecake with hints of citrus, served with cherries, chocolate and shortbread crumbs with cherry sorbet, topped off with a chocolate branch and candy floss. It's extra, yes, but it's oh so delicious. The restaurant's pastry chef Helen Clark has also created a delicate matcha and raspberry macaron (£7.50), filled with fresh raspberries and matcha ganache, served with rose ice cream. In fact if you're short on time I'd heartily recommend skipping the main menu and just hitting up the desserts; they were an absolute delight.

The puddings are accompanied with rather delicious two limited edition cherry blossom inspired cocktails, the refreshing Strawberry Blossom (£10), a spring-time tipple made with gin, strawberry, lemon and sugar syrup, as well as the Sakura Punch mocktail (£8), a heavenly mix of strawberry, passion fruit, orange, pineapple and a dash of almond syrup.

They've certainly upped their Instagram game this year, what with a strategically positioned posing bench, giant hashtag on the back wall and the addition of a ring light for the perfect selfie, and it's clearly working; we visited on a Monday afternoon and every table was filled with clientele posing up a storm.

Selfies aside, you've got two weeks to get your down for a dessert; trust us, it's worth the calories.
