Pimp Family Dinnertime: Veg With Edge From SpiceBox

Love London

The last few months has seen a host of home dinner kits launched, from DIY burgers from some of our favourite haunts, to suppliers usually reserving their premium produce for restaurants shifting to bring it to your door, but there are few we've enjoyed as much as the offering from SpiceBox.

The vibrant Walthamstow curry house launched its family curry night recipe boxes with a nationwide delivery service back in June and while we'll definitely be supporting the restaurant when it's back up and running, the home version was pretty damn good if we do say so ourselves...

Choose from a Tikka Masala or a Cashew and Coconut Korma and your box will delivered filled with all the ingredients you need to make a family feast; what's more, it's 100% plant-based. We plumped for the Korma, and a box arrived on our doorstep (deliveries are Thursday or Friday) PACKED with ready-made sauce, bunches of fresh spinach and coriander, ready made sides to just pop in the oven and quite possibly the largest sweet potato we'd ever laid eyes on.

The recipe card provided an easy step by guide, devised by SpiceBox's founder Grace, even with handy timings for each stage so we knew exactly how long it would all take. For an extra helping hand, Grace has also created accompanying YouTube recipe videos which you can find on SpiceBox's YouTube channel, SpiceBox TV.

Each box says it generously feeds four people, we're guessing that's if they are mega hungry - we got a good five out of ours - and is priced at £45 per box. At just £9 a head for a delicious, fresh feast, that's pretty good going, plus £2.50 from all boxes sold is given straight to SpiceBox's charity partner, The Woodland Trust.

If you're in the market for shaking up your Friday night family feasts, give it a try and if you're in the neighbourhood book a table when it reopens and support your local restaurant industry.
