THE NEW BRITISH BEAUTY BRAND PUTTING PAID TO PLASTIC

Love London

There's a new British beauty brand on the block which is championing sustainability like never before.

Nereus London's founders were passionate about slowing - and ultimately stopping - the use of plastic in the luxury beauty industry. The result is a brand that uses less than 1% plastic across its entire supply chain. All products are plastic-free, with Nereus London bottles and caps are made from 100% BPA free, infinitely recyclable aluminium and labels made from completely biodegradable wood pulp, designed to decompose to ease the recycling process.

Nereus has also partnered up with Plastic Bank, a company that is revolutionising the world’s recycling systems to create a regenerative and circular plastic economy. For every bottle sold, they commit to recovering a kilo of ocean bound plastic.

The range has launched with five unisex products, all of which are vegan and free from parabens, silicone and sulphates. I've been trying the Australian Buddah Wood Shampoo and Conditioner, both usually £25 but currently on a Black Friday promotion at £16.25 each. Packed with natural essential oils it has a faint lemon sherbert scent to it thanks to refreshing bergamot. It's been lovely, leaving my hair soft and moisturised without stripping  and producing a great lather despite being sulphate-free.

While it may not be for everyone given the price tag, if you're prone to splashing out on a salon grade shampoo and conditioner it's worth looking at Nereus, even if only for the knowledge that every bottle you buy is one less bottle of plastic waste.
