While it's tradition to find some choccies in my Christmas stocking each year, this year I shall be trying to convince my Mum to steer away from the obligatory giant Smarties tube and instead upgrade to something a little more upmarket.
Launching a start up during a pandemic is no mean feat and yet the founders of fresh chocolate brand Russell & Atwell have done just that, combining their over 30 years in the chocolate industry to create a brand shaking up the British chocolate market.
Steve (Russell) and Giles (Atwell) went through hundreds of prototypes before creating the range, with its fresh chocolates hand-finished in small batches, made with sustainable cocoa, fresh organic cream and no palm oil. Each 90g pouch (which is made from oxo-biodegradable materials) is filled with delicious bites of crisp chocolate shell housing a meltingly creamy centre and flavours currently include milk, dark, extra dark and a new salted caramel launched for Christmas, all of which arrive in letterbox-friendly packaging.
We were kindly sent some to try recently and safe to say we're convinced our future lies with fresh chocolate. They were unbelievably creamy, seriously delicious and a properly indulgent little treat. They're most certainly at the top of our Christmas list, but given great chocolate is for life, not just for Christmas, there's no doubt we'll be long term fans!
