Any frequenter of Brixton Village will be familiar with Black Bear Burger's absolutely banging burgers (not to mention the likes of their unbeatable Patty Melt Sando and Brisket Spring Rolls, but that’s for another day). Given it’s one of the things I’ve been craving since lockdown shut down all favourite haunts, I jumped at the chance to try out their home delivery.
With nationwide delivery available it’s not just Londoners who can enjoy Black Bear at Home, with kits available for their classic Black Bear Burger, Double Black Bear Burger, Beef Dripping Fries and Cookie Dough Pot. We tried the former, with four burgers (with all the trimmings) for £25 it’s perfect for a feast night.
The kit arrives packed with everything you need; Demi-brioche buns, dry-aged, grass-fed, native breed patties, oak smoked bacon rations, American cheese slices, onion jam, garlic mayo and pickled white onions. The step by step instructions for cooking and assembly are flawless (and mega simple). The only thing we added was a smidge of lettuce (you know…to pretend it was a little bit healthy…).
The burgers were flippin’ delicious; juicy, packed with flavour and all the extras really made it the real thing; it almost seemed like we were in Brixton for real, chowing down in the village, with a bunch of mates on a Friday night… almost… we can dream. For a Friday night feast (or any night, who are we kidding) you can’t beat a Black Bear Burger.
