We’re already stocking up the shopping ready for 12th April and the forthcoming back garden cocktail club we’ll undoubtedly be launching, but while we know there are myriad terrific tipples available for the boozers among us, the options for non-drinkers haven’t always been so exciting.
That’s exactly why we were excited to discover Mother Root Ginger Switchel, an award-winning aperitif with a sophisticated flavour that will add a little something to your drinks cabinet. The all-natural non-alcoholic aperitif is made with four key ingredients - a maceration of pressed ginger juice, blossom honey, organic apple cider vinegar and a hint of chilli, giving it a little kick.
Developed in a kitchen in Peckham by founder and drinks specialist Bethan Higson, its unique and complex flavour profile lends itself perfectly to cocktails and there’s a host of recipes on the website to ensure non-drinkers aren’t left out of cocktail club. We love the sound of the Switchel Cobbler, with pineapple juice, dry sherry and soda, and will certainly be trying out the Old Kyoto, made with Cold-Brewed Genmaicha tea and honey.
