BRUNCH THE CANADIAN WAY AT WEST 4TH

Love London

Don your double denim, because Canada's latest export has hit west London in the form of West 4th, the much-awaited brunch restaurant and wine bar inspired by the Canadian West Coast. Open from morning brunch and also home to a wine and charcuterie bar, the 1,800 sq ft space will also be hosting wine tastings as well as downstairs being available to hire for events.

The Vancouver inspired venue brings unique takes on quintessential Canadian staples, such as a Breakfast Poutine, consisting of beautifully cooked poached eggs, fried potatoes, cheese curds, maple bacon lardons, topped with hollandaise sauce.

Other brunch favourites and hero dishes include pancake and waffle stacks, with variations such as ‘Campfire S’mores’ whereby deliciously light marshmallow fluff, graham cracker dust, chocolate drizzle and mini marshmallows are piled high on freshly baked stacks, and ‘Lockdown-Style Banana Bread’ with maple sauteed bananas, whipped coconut yoghurt and gooey chunks of banana bread. Vegan and vegetarian options are also available, and healthy dishes such as the açai bowl also complement the menu.

West 4th will also offer an interactive ‘mix n match Eggs Benny’ whereby customers can pair multiple, delicious variations of this much-loved dish, including options like Sockeye Smoked Salmon, Smashed Pea with Goats Cheese and Canadian Maple Cured Bacon, while complementing the contemporary bar offering is a selection of delicious cocktails and a carefully curated portfolio of wines, including those from Canadian vineyards in honour of its heritage, which can be paired with charcuterie boards and small plates to enjoy as the evening progresses. Most of the Canadian wines aren’t found in any other London restaurants so head here to discover some of the best wines Canada has to offer.

All dishes will feature the highest quality, locally sourced ingredients and will be overseen by head chef and newcomer Joseph Berney. At the age of 22 Berney has already held roles at prestigious restaurants such as Scott’s and Clipstone, and was previously head pastry chef at Bowley’s at The Plough, in Kent.

Friends and locals to the area, Livia Boumeester and Louisa Stevenson-Hamilton, are the creative visionaries behind this project. In 2019 Boumeester and Stevenson-Hamilton left their London corporate jobs to move to Vancouver. They were enamoured by elements of ‘West 4th Avenue’ on the Canadian coast, a renowned destination for socialising and dining, and working both front and back of house in the Canadian hospitality industry gave the pair the inspiration to recreate this in London.
