If you're still yearning for the glamour of the festive season, head west to Town House at The Kensington and join a sensory journey through the world of fragrance. The Golden Age brings together coveted British perfumery brand Jo Loves and legendary French aperitif, Lillet, with a delicioius men based on pure escapism and discovery.
The partnership has created an exotic oasis in the middle of South Kensington, whisking guests away to faraway climes and golden times. Each Lillet cocktail and dish featured on the menus are designed to highlight signature Jo Loves scents, pairing with one of the four olfactory destinations – the rolling hills of Tuscany, a plentiful English Estate, the sun blanched landscape of the Mediterranean and the rich, vibrant vineyards of Provence. Inspired by Jo Loves’ timeless scents and the ageless appeal of our favourite French apéritif, ‘The Golden Age’ menu includes a range of destination drinks unlike any other.
We whisked ourselves across town pre-Christmas to sample it for ourselves. In a beautifully cosy dining room, in front of a crackling log fire, we indulged in The Provence Spritz, a delicious concoction of Lillet Rosé, Perrier Jouët Grand Brut, Orange Blossom, Berry Shrub and Citrus, swiftly followed by a Mediterranean Nights, featuring Lillet Blanc, Italicus, Homemade Lime Cordial, Jasmine Peach Soda, Absinthe spritz. The accompanying food was a delicious transportation away from a dreary London winter. Grilled tiger prawns with garlic butter and samphire, a wonderful Meunière whole Dover sole with buttered new potatoes and purple sprouting broccoli, a magnificent grilled grass-fed Black Angus fillet steak with Café de Paris butter and fries and a classic vanilla crème brûlée & shortbread (the hazelnut Paris Brest with hot chocolate sauce will most certainly be returned for...). Each mouthful was utterly sublime and the location made for a superbly indulgent evening.
