FINDING A NEW TRIBE IN CANARY WHARF

Love London

Canary Wharf traditionally hasn’t been particularly known for a trendy hotel given it’s predominantly business clientele,  hit the impending of pioneering lifestyle hotel brand TRIBE’s first UK property last year certainly out paid to that.

The brand’s eight property, following openings in across the globe from Amsterdam to Perth, features interiors by Ennismore’s design team – the creative minds behind The Hoxton hotels – add has definitely added a fresh style to the area. TRIBE focuses on functional, but design driven spaces. It’s a hotel made for modern travellers, with chic rooms, outstanding bedding (and super comfy beds), quality toiletries and a brilliant F&B offering to boot.

With 320 rooms across six floors, it’s catering to the Canary Wharf masses. If all you need is a crash pad, the TRIBE Comfort rooms offer just that, a 14sqm space with city views; the TRIBE Comfort Atrium rooms are the same size but with a hotel atrium view, and the TRIBE Comfort XL is a spacious 21sqm corner room overlooking Wood Wharf.

With plenty of daylight thanks to Floor to ceiling windows, king size beds, rainfall showers and thoughtful details - we loved the actual decent sized desk to work from and the Roberts DAB radios - rooms are practically designed with minimal fuss and maximum comfort.

Downstairs you’ll find a 24 hour ‘Social Hub’, an elegant yet casual area with plenty of spaces to eat, drink and socialise. A Grab & Go counter with coffee and nibbles is a handy late night addition, while the brilliant in house restaurant - Feels Like June - brings a California vibe to E14, with a menu serving up casual all-day dining with a west coast flavour, like grilled sea bass with salsa verde and lemon conserve, superfood salads and tacos.

It’s a bright, airy space lined with soft banquettes, lush planting and cool retro tiles, along with a pretty spectacular gallery wall I may or may not have snapped for living room inspiration!  It’s undoubtedly a cool space - the kind of thing Canary Wharf’s been craving - and a welcome refresher to the area. The central oval bar and 80 cover terrace are just waiting for the weather to warm up; it’s certainly going to becoming a buzzing spots for post work drinks come summer.

Given it’s just a few minutes stroll from the tube, One Canada Square and the buzz of Canary Wharf’s main drag, we’re converted. This is a hotel built for business and pleasure, that flawlessly combines business practicality with superb comfort, genuinely exciting design and excellent dining. Check it out and check yourself in.
