DUCKING INTO DAO BY DORSETT

Love London

Tucked away in a corner of the Green next to the Empire, lies Dao by Dorsett Shepherds Bush, an elegant addition to the Dorsett hotel next door which offers high quality serviced apartments for those looking for a little more than a hotel room.

74 apartments offer guests a choice from a cosy studio perfect for a solo trip to a spacious two bedroom duplex, sleeping four, carefully tailored to meet the needs of both business and leisure travellers. Decor is beautifully elegant - think rich real velvet accents and sleek kitchens - making the rooms feel very much home from home rather than a corporate feeling apartment, of which there are many in this town. Each comes with a kitchenette, living and dining space and en suite bathroom.

With weekly housekeeping, a guest launderette on site, and discounted day passes to local gyms available, it’s a great solution if needing a bed for a little longer than a night or two. Pets are available - though with additional fees - and Dao also offers a range of packages for guests to relax and unwind, from the Move Your Way pack with in-room Peloton bike, resistance bands, yoga mat, protein drink and reusable water bottle, to a pet package with comfy pet bed or tent to sleep in, food and water bowls, waste bag dispenser, toys and a discount on pet sitting services.

We couldn’t resist trying out the Self-Care Club Pack (£70) during our visit, aimed to create the ultimate in comfortable relaxation. With a gorgeous Yina bio-cellulose face mask, bottle of CBD balancing oil to encourage wellbeing and calm and a heavenly scented candle it was off to a good start. Included in the package were also a heat therapy blanket and red light therapy mask, both fantastic additions though somewhat frustratingly both arrived in the room with zero instructions, meaning a marginally stressful search of YouTube to try and find out how on earth to use them… enjoyable once we’d worked it out mind. Our only top tip for enjoying an undisturbed night’s slumber is to bring earplugs - with Dao being next door to Shepherds Bush Empire you might get caught with a noisy post-gig crowd under your window if you’re unlucky.

Sharing the lobby space with the Dorsett hotel means access to the fabulous Jin bar for breakfast, snacks and drinks, along with Shikumen, a fabulous Chinese restaurant, though being mere minutes from Westfield White City you’re really spoilt for choice in the area for food and drink if that’s not your vibe.

We loved discovering Dao, a gorgeous spot in Shepherds Bush that offers elegant accommodation with the comfort of both a hotel and a home from home. For the best rates book direct (and sign up as a member), and you can find rooms from around £200 per night.
