We're in the midst of Afternoon Tea Week and what better way to celebrate than with what might be the most delicious spread of the summer. Inspired by an Amalfi Coast summer, the summer afternoon tea menu at The Parlour at Great Scotland Yard Hotel, in partnership with iconic fragrance house Floris London, brings the delicate floral flavours of Italy to the plates of SW1.
Inspired by Floris London's “Bergamotto di Positano” fragrance - a refreshing blend of bergamot entwined with mandarin and balmy marine notes, orange blossom, vanilla and amber which encapsulates the signature aromas of the Amalfi Coast - the tea offers guests a delicious spread with accompanying teas, served in the beautiful setting of The Parlour, with its sumptuous mural wallpapers and velvet sofas.
We tucked into savouries including a light frittata di zucchine and a stracciatella, smoked salmon and caviar bruschetta, instantly transporting the palater to Positano. The classic English afternoon tea scone is Italianised with the addition of a vibrant orange jam, while a spread of sweet treats are a stunning third course. An almond and cocoa torta caprese with richly decadent, an iconic cake of Capri. We loved the Amalfi Lemon Delight, unbelievably light and so fragrantly flavourful, unsurprisingly given Amalfi lemons are the best in the world for their flavour. An orange babà with orange blossom was almost too pretty to eat, but we're glad we did. Though exceedingly sweet it was lighter than air.
The tea is avaialble now at £59 per person, £69 with a Pomello Spritz - a refreshing grapefruit and elderflower aperitif - or £89 with free-flowing champagne during the duration of your one and half hour booking.
