ROOFTOP FILM CLUB IS BACK FOR THE SUMMER

With the mercury rising again this week we're in full rooftop mode and Peckham's Bussey Building and Roof East Stratford once again home to Rooftop Film Club for the summer.

Whether you’re looking to enjoy the warmer months with a rooftop romance, a cult classic, or a scary summer screening, there’s something for everyone. Set against spectacular 360 degree city views, there’s no better place to catch a movie under the sunset whilst enjoying delicious food and drink delivered directly to your seat. Rooftop Book Club

Back for its second year, Rooftop Book Club returns on 19th June for a sky-high Hunger Games themed evening, joined by the book lovers at London Girls Book Club. The evening will start off with a chilled and chatty book club hosted by London Girls Book Club founder Caitlin Curry, followed by a screening of the film whilst overlooking Rooftop Film Club’s stunning city views at Roof East, Stratford. Expect small group chats, a chance to swap theories with fellow book lovers, and plenty of space to share your own take on the characters, themes, and big moments from the series in a relaxed setting. 


Rooftop Comedy Club

On 1st June, comedy fans can head to Peckham to laugh up a storm as Rooftop Film Club hosts a brand new live on stage Rooftop Comedy Club. Headline act Jeff Innocent of Comedy Store fame will take to the stage, followed by award-winning stand up comedian and former doctor Michael Akadiri, and wickedly funny Sara Barron, all compèred by multi-award-winning East London comedian Laura Smyth. There’s no better place for pre-show pizza or post-show drinks whilst overlooking the sunset city views.


Celebrating Queer Film 

Rooftop Film Club spotlights queer lives on screen for Pride month with classics like Love Lies Bleeding, Call Me By Your Name, Jawbreaker(21 June, Peckham), and To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar (7 June, Peckham). 15% of each ticket sold for Call Me By Your Name (22 June, Stratford), Love Lies Bleeding (25 June, Peckham), and Set It Off (27 June, Peckham) will be donated to London Friend, the UK’s oldest LGBT charity, offering health and mental wellbeing support for the LGBT community in and around London. For those planning ahead to July, Rooftop Film Club in Stratford hosts a Disney themed Drag Disco on 5th July, hosted by queen Jolly Olly aka Marianne Divoors. 


PJ Party Takes the Night-In Out

On 14th June, those looking to elevate their chill-night-in can head to Rooftop Film Club in Peckham for a PJ party and Mamma Mia! screening, courtesy of the hair specialists at Bed Head by Tigi. The rooftop is set to take the humble slumber party to the next level with an on-site glitter artist, live piano playing hit ABBA bangers and complimentary Bed Head treats for every guest. Plus, there are Bussey Rooftop Bar’s cocktails, mocktails and delicious drinks to enjoy all whilst gazing over the rooftop’s view.


Summer Solstice, Family Favourites & Cult Classics

Rooftop Film Club has something for everyone this June. Those looking to catch some chills in the summer heat can mark summer solstice weekend with a screening of Midsommar (24 June, Peckham), or catch other summer horror classics like Friday The 13th (13 June, Peckham & Stratford) - featuring some fun surprises - and The Wood (11 June, Stratford). Those looking for an epic family day out can enjoy favourites like Ratatouille (28 June, Peckham), Finding Nemo (15 June, Peckham), and can even meet ‘n’ greet Moana at the Rooftop for Moana 2 (1, 29 June, Stratford), and Rooftop Film Club’s usual programming on cult classics like The Breakfast Club (7 June, Peckham; 22 June, Stratford), Top Gun (15 June, Peckham) and Trainspotting (27 June, Peckham) make for the perfect nostalgic date night or day out with friends. 

Food & Drink 

Rooftop Film Club offers a mouthwatering range of food and drink for the ultimate movie refreshments. At Bussey Rooftop Bar - South London’s favourite summer spot for a sundowner - choose from a carefully curated selection of cocktails, mocktails, beer and wine, along with tasty stone-baked pizza and classic cinema snacks. All food and drink can be enjoyed before, during or after your film, with anything you need mid-movie delivered directly to your comfy Peckham rooftop seat, so there’s no need to step away from the action.
