El Pastor, the London-based group of transportive Mexican restaurants, is thrilled to announce the next EP + Amigos dinner, welcoming Elena Reygadas in partnership with Herradura Tequila.
On Thursday 4th September, El Pastor Soho will host Reygadas, one of the most influential voices in modern Mexican gastronomy. This one-night dinner offers London diners the rare opportunity to experience her distinctive cooking, shaped by her acclaimed work at Mexico City’s Michelin-starred Rosetta and the much-loved Panadería Rosetta.
Named World’s Best Female Chef by The World’s 50 Best Restaurants in 2023, Reygadas is celebrated for her elegant, ingredient-led dishes that champion Mexico’s rich culinary heritage while embracing seasonal produce and subtle Italian influences.
This event is also a personal reunion for Reygadas and El Pastor co-founder Crispin Somerville. The two first met over twenty years ago in Mexico City, where they opened Prima, an Italian restaurant in Plaza de Cibeles, with Elena leading the kitchen and Crispin running the bar.
For this special dinner, Elena has crafted a menu that honours and preserves native Mexican ingredients while embracing the best of British seasonal produce. Each dish reflects her commitment to respecting the ingredients as much as possible, while ensuring each dish delivers maximum pleasure.
Dishes on the night will include:
Coctel de camerones with fermented nanches
Prawn cocktail infused with the distinctive savoury tang of fermented nanches, a native Mexican fruit.
Potato + cheese taco dorado with tarragon salsa verde
A crisp, golden taco that combines British potatoes and cheese with a fragrant, herbaceous salsa verde made with British tarragon.
Jerusalem artichoke + ceps escabeche
Pickled Jerusalem artichokes and wild ceps create an earthy, layered dish, highlighting British seasonal roots with deep umami notes.
Suckling pig with almendrado sharer
Tender, slow-cooked suckling pig with a rich almond mole, served with a fresh watercress and herb salad, sweet potatoes, smoked beans, and heirloom corn tortillas. Designed to be shared.
Hoja santa with white cacao criollo
Served as a delicate Ice cream infused with hoja santa, a peppery Mexican leaf, and white cacao criollo, one of the purest forms of cacao. A subtly complex dessert exemplifying Elena Reygadas’ refined, ingredient-led approach.
Guests will be welcomed with a signature Tequila Herradura cocktail to set the tone for the evening.
