CALLING ALL SOLO DINERS! A ‘RESTAURANT FOR ONE’ LAUNCHES AT THE BRITISH MUSEUM

Love London

Ever caught yourself doomscrolling to dodge the sympathetic glances of fellow diners? Or do you secretly love the peace, freedom and me-time of eating out alone? Turns out, Brits are split right down the middle.

New research reveals one in four of us (25%) dine out solo weekly, while a similar number (24%) say they’d never dream of it - often put off by feeling judged, uncomfortable or watched (45%). Yet for many, a ‘table for one’ is far from lonely: almost two-thirds (63%) relish the peace, freedom and ‘me-time’ it brings. Still, more than half (53%) admit they’ve avoided dining alone altogether because of the stigma.

itsu [grocery] thinks it’s time to change that. Launching at The British Museum, ‘Restaurant for One’, is the grocery chain’s latest experience serving up a space that embraces both camps - giving solo dining the spotlight it deserves and making it something everyone can feel good about. What’s more, it’s completely free.
Restaurant For One by itsu [grocery] is taking "table for one" culture to the next level, offering guests the chance to dine solo in the British Museum’s sereneJapan Room - a gallery rich with centuries of Japanese art and craftsmanship.

Guests will be served a specially curated menu of warming noodles and Japanese beers (including non-alcoholic options), all within the tranquil surroundings of one of the museum’s most atmospheric galleries.

From Katsu Korokke Curry to Chashu Pork Ramen, each dish at Restaurant For One will showcase pots from itsu [grocery]’s new ‘noodles & broth’ range - developed in collaboration with acclaimed chef and MasterChef star Monica Galetti. Recently appointed as itsu [grocery]’s Chef & Recipe Consultant, Monica helped improve standout flavours like Chick-n Ramen and Katsu Curry, while also introducing bold new additions to the noodle pot line-up.

The two-night event takes place on:

Monday 29th September
Thursday 9th October

Each solo session lasts 20 minutes and runs from 6:30pm to 9:00pm, right in the heart of the Japanese Galleries at the iconic British Museum.
