With autumn well and truly here, The Peninsula London is celebrated the time-honoured traditions of the Mid-Autumn Festival celebrations with an exclusive menu at its Cantonese restarant, Canton Blue. The exquisite six-course feast is serving through to this Sunday, with a delicious spread including delicate steamed lobster and green vegetable dumplings, barbecued pork, sautéed Atlantic king prawns with salted egg-yolk, steamed seabass fillet, braised ‘lion’s meat’ ball with winter melon, and imperial crab golden pearl, concluding with traditional red bean rice balls served with a sweet rice wine syrup. We enjoyed a sneak preview last week, tucking in after a Mahjong masterclass where we were expertly tutored in the game beloved by generations.
It's not just the Canton Blue menu that's worth a visit, as The Peninsula's legendary mooncakes are also making an exclusive appearance for the festival, created by the hotel's Head Dim Sum Chef Ling Ling Zeng and available on the dessert menus at both Canton Blue and Little Blue.
A cherished tradition at The Peninsula Hotels, mooncakes hold deep roots in Asian culture and are enjoyed during the Mid-Autumn Festival. This year’s elegant collection, available at The Peninsula Boutique & Café until 8th October, showcases the hotel’s award-winning signature Mini Egg Custard Mooncakes, a perennial favourite first perfected at The Peninsula Hong Kong in 1986. With their buttery golden crust and velvety custard centre, these delicacies remain a timeless celebration of heritage and craftsmanship.
This year’s collection also features The Peninsula Constellation Mooncakes, showcasing traditional flavours such as lotus seed paste alongside tea-infused varieties made with the hotel’s signature tea leaves, including jasmine and earl grey. For a richer indulgence, the range also includes Mini Chocolate Egg Custard Mooncakes with a velvety toffee filling, as well as decadent Mini Mulberry Egg Custard Mooncakes. Finally, 2025 also welcomes the introduction of limited-edition Luna Cakes, a modern take on the classic. Created exclusively for The Peninsula by the hotel’s team of skilled pastry chefs, available in The Peninsula Boutique and Café in a variety of flavours including Chocolate and Mango.
The Mid-Autumn Festival menu is available until Sunday 12th October, from £188 per person.
