London's Comedy Blog

Hi comedy fans!

You want good comedy? Don't just turn up at any old place, you could have a cringy night on your hands. Here are the LondonisFunny.com tips for where to find the good stuff this week.

1. Outside the Box Comedy Club, Kingston
This tiny club punches well above it's weight, and as well as a superb line-up tonight (social commentator Paul Sinha, the low-octane Ed Aczel and Welsh rogue Elis james), a very special secret guest off the telly is appearing ... (Monday)

2. Lewis Schaffer, Soho
If you fancy taking a bit of a risk, shocking but vulnerable New Yorker Lewis Schaffer can be found performing his one-man show for free three times a week at the Source Below in Soho. (Mon-Wed)

3. Times+ Live Comedy, Whitechapel
A unique venue in east London, being the oldest grand music hall in the world, Wilton's Music Hall welcomes Rufus Hound from BBC3's Argumental, deadpan joy Tom Basden, Tom Rosenthal from Friday Night Dinner, the superb Josh Widdicombe, character comic Adam Riches and charismatic Kiwi Jarred Christmas. (Thursday)

4. The Boat Show, Embankment
The ever-reliable Boat Show at the Tattershall Castle boat plays host to the unique Terry Alderton, mischievous gag machine Josh Howie (pictured), affable storyteller Andrew Bird and MC Michael Legge. (Friday)

5. Knock2Bag, Notting Hill
Knock2Bag's larger west London club has an excellent line-up on Saturday night: erudite ranter Robin Ince, a true comedy original comedian Simon Munnery, cartoonish Canadian Tony Law, the superb Brett Goldstein, promising newcomer Chris Ramsay and Fergus Craig.

All the above listings and much more (such as interviews, recommendations, ticket competitions, picture galleries) can be found at www.londonisfunny.com. Also, London is Funny readers can get 2-for-1 entry to the superb 99 Club Leicester Square every Sunday, just by taking along a printout of the London is Funny listing for that show.

See you next week!
Paul
