Don’t believe what they say about the British having bad teeth! The British Dental Association Museum is dedicated to the history of dentistry in the UK, with nearly 30,000 items including posters promoting dental hygiene, implements and instruments, and of course, dentists’ chairs. As well as learning about techniques for flossing and brushing in the 19th century there are temporary exhibitions to ensure that what’s on display frequently changes. Located within the headquarters of the British Dental Association, the museum was founded in 1919, when it was originally only open to dentists and associated professionals. The general public have been able to visit since 1967, and entrance is free. A visit here should lay to rest (most) rumours concerning the poor dental care of the Brits.
