Melanie Symonds who was the owner of the bar in its previous guise has given this basement bar a metaphorical lift; there is a definite Mexican flavour which she's retained, although the decor and food have been paired back. Expect mezcal cocktails and a lively, fun atmosphere in which to enjoy them.

All In London Review
Qui Qui Ri Qui
In reality this is just another East London Bar – divey, slippery when wet and filled with a hip, young clientele. You can appreciate what it’s trying to do but it comes up feeling a little too basement and not enough mezcaleria. But it can’t be easy to get mezcal on the map and it must be even harder to encourage patrons to sip rather than shoot their Mexican medicine.
A simple basement it may be but touches of creativity liven the place up - the ‘dirty’ collage behind the DJ booth for one. Speaking of the DJ booth, there’s a problem with the music. Since this is hardly the place to come for a quiet chat and a sit down, the music is just too quiet. In a basement like this it should be banging and if opening hours are extended (to the rumoured 5am) they’ll need much more power to keep it interesting.
Kudos to Qui Qui Ri Qui for trying something new and if you have friends from out of town then bring them along to show them the fun and games that lie beneath London’s streets. But for a regular place to drink, the £5 house mezcal and £4.00 bottled beers are a tad prohibitive.
