The American Bar at the Savoy Hotel is the gold standard of cocktail lounges. Open since 1920 and still having the same ambiance as then, American jazz is played live on the piano seven days a week as you sip on classic cocktails (sometimes with a modern twist) and feel a million dollars!

London's best-stocked bars!
We've researched this thoroughly
The American Bar at the Savoy is considered by many to be the best bar in the world. It is also the home of the dry martini, first put together by Harry Craddock in the 1920s. It is the most controversial cocktail, as measures of vermouth are hotly debated – Winston Churchill is believed to have said that it should be made by merely glancing at the vermouth while pouring the gin freely. Either way, it’s a stiff drink not everyone can handle.
London's best American bars
Yeeee-haaaa!
Americans don’t just eat ribs and drink in-your-face hoppy craft beers, and The American Bar at The Savoy can prove it. If the hotel’s Beaufort Bar is intimate and unassumingly opulent then The American Bar is the opposite. Extravagant, smart, over the top and ever so slightly garish, it is a great place for a refined cocktail with a twang of Americana.
