Very good food at an excellent price! We had Thai food here yesterday after finding out that Ben’s, the Thai restaurant on Clifton road moved here.
The Chippenham is a honest unpretentious local, and joining up with the Thai restaurant is a clever move. Good for an area sadly lacking good boozers.
Ben’s food was as good as usual, and the setting is surreal, in an old saloon with fantastic tiled walls and mirrors.
Will say 9 out of 10 just because the offer of ales is not good. But I was informed that more real ales were coming. Will go back soon.
A word of warning: This pub has improved a lot in the last years. However, you may still don’t like it if you are a banker or a blond looking for a banker… you may like much better The Warrington, which is near by, also pretty, and super expensive.
The Chippenham is a hotel that is popular with backpackers serving traditional pub and Thai food all day, as well as a selection of beers, wines and spirits. Catering for private parties of up to 50 people is available upon request.
