The Underwriter serves traditional pub food as well as beers, wines and spirits. Entertainment is provided in the form of karaoke on Fridays, quiz nights on Thursdays, discos, Sky TV, fruit machines and a juke box. They can cater for private parties of between 150 and 200 people on the weekends. Outside seating is provided on the pavement area.

popped down for a quick pint with a mate. newly done up. bar staff were smiley and nice to talk to. had a pint of tribute, which is not served in that many places- it was excellent. music playing in the back ground- not too loud so as i couldnt have a conversation. overall a very enjoyable experience and i will be back

As a retired Life Underwriter from South Africa, I was pleased to discover that such a bar/pub exists and on visits to London have enjoyed a few pints there.
The only disappointment is that there appears to be no history documented as to the origins of the pub.
I should have paid more attention to the prints on the walls!
Was it bombed flat during WWII or the IRA bombing in the '70s?
I remain convinced that there has to be some connection with the history of the area,namely Lloyds.
