JJ Moons in Tooting Broadway is a small intimate pub and I have been visiting it for ten years or so. The interior is long and narrow with the first half being mainly for drinking and the rear half being a dining and a family area (children). The food is excellent, various cuisines on offer ( from steak through to curries), and very good value. There are special offers always available (e.g, burger plus a beer, reduced price for a meal for two people etc.,) and food is available all day long bar near closing time. Of course being a Wetherspoon pub the drinks are rock bottom prices. The great thing for me with this pub is that they open at 10 am and serve a very satisfying English breakfast with excellent tea or coffee all for just a few pounds. The clientele varies throughout the day: they are a reserved bunch and will respect your privacy. In the mornings the pub is fairly quiet with people having breakfast or maybe 'a hair of the dog' or doing their Sudoku's. Towards lunchtime it fills up with the regulars and local office workers on their lunch breaks. Come 5 pm a diffrent, younger crowd starts to arrive as the shops and offices begin to close releasing their workers, and the medical students and nurses end their shifts at nearby St. George's hospital. By about 8'oclock they will have gone being replaced by the more determined drinkers some of whom may well be back at 10am the next day for a breakfast and maybe another 'hair of the dog'. Do keep a eye out for special events such as St. Patricks day and the Beer Festival in late Summer if you like real ales with strange names. Finally, please don' think that I sit in JJ Moons all day. My observations have been gathered over many years and at different times of the day. JM.
