I used to drink in the rose inn in 1984. The brilliant thing is it still looks almost the same.
There was a regular called Bob who, when he bent to play a pool shot, used to roll his lit cigarette to one corner of his mouth and then play his shot #legend.
There was a woman too who used to keep score at darts; I was amazed at her mental arithmetic......until one day I realised she got her subtraction wrong most of the time #anotherlegend.
I was a homesick paddy student then at Thames poly and my digs were so miserable I'd go down most nights and sit over a couple of pints.
Will return some day god willing
The Rose Inn is a basic, "no frills" pub near a large council estate. A wide selection of lagers and some guest ales and bitters are available. The Rose also plays music and has a pool table.
