The Reliance
These days Old Street has a different kind of lure to that of its trendsetting past. The club nights have moved onwards to Dalston, cellar bars are popping up on Hackney Streets away from here at a rate of vintage shops and the crowd has matured. Which all spells good things for The Reliance, which has always been a bit of a sore thumb in this area.
On the face of things it is a fairly generic pub, albeit with an attractive glass façade, but that’s not the full story. Inside, the pub has grown into a proper boozer, with a dark wood and ever so slightly ramshackle look that sets it apart from most others in the area – bar perhaps, The Barley Mow. As the hip nights have moved, The Reliance has become a more attractive proposition. Sometimes all you want is a pub that will welcome you with some solid beers on tap and a low-lit environment to sit and chat. And that’s The Reliance.
While it may not be enough to attract you for a specific visit, the drink selection is more than acceptable with the likes of dsndjsdnsjd.
In Shoreditch you’re not spoiled for choice when it comes to classic pubs in which to get a pint, but The Reliance does a good job of making up for that.
